Medieval Project: Catherine Called Birdy

Students in English 8 have just finished reading the novel, Catherine Called Birdy. They chose a topic related to the novel from a website posted on our class Moodle. The assignment required them to research the topic (Medieval foods, village life, clothing, herbal medicine, knights, etc) and to find references to their topic in the novel. They had two classes in the library to research their topic in books and using the VSB databases, and to look at books on Illuminations to give them some ideas for their illustrated border and illustrated first letter. Their bibliography had to be on the back of their project. All these points were on a checklist that was attached to their project when handed in.
